Casa Mea's Children
Julia was Casa Mea’s first child, arriving in 2004. She was abandoned at birth by her mother in the maternity hospital. A doctor at the hospital eventually named her and completed her birth certificate. When she arrived at Casa Mea she was very sick; suffering from low birth weight, anemia, and rickets. She is now thriving, attends school, and loves to sing, dance, and play outside.
Additional children began arriving in 2006. Costin was one of those children. He joined the Casa Mea family when he was only one month old.
He too had been abandoned by his mother at the maternity hospital. Unfortunately, Costin’s mother took him back when he was seven months old, only to abandon him later.
Three more children, who were siblings, arrived shortly after Costin left and were with us for two and a half years.
Amalia, at 8 years of age, was the eldest of the siblings. She lost her two front teeth while she was at Casa Mea and loved to draw and color.
Maria was 6 years old and in her last year of kindergarten. She had her ears pierced here at Casa Mea and loved to wear lip gloss and pretty dresses.
Octavian, was 3 and attended kindergarten for the first time along with Julia. He was an active and handsome young man who loved his cars!
Cristina who at four years of age, was our next child to arrive at Casa Mea. She had been severely neglected and as a result, she had many developmental delays. But she joined the kindergarten class with Octavian and Julia and with the help our staff, she continues to progress. She loves to “do” her hair as you can see!
Vlad arrived at Casa Mea in the summer of 2008 at the age of 7. He is a delightful little boy who does flips and cartwheels throughout the house. All the little girls look up to him as a big brother and copy his every move. Perhaps it is because he has the prettiest eyes and longest eyelashes you have ever seen!
Mihaela was 3 when she arrived in the spring of 2009. She is quite the little lady, only at times! She likes to make enormous messes and then spend the rest of the day cleaning them up. Her favorite activity is playing in the sand! She is a joy to be around and never has a complaint!
Ana Maria was 6 years old and her brother Robert was 1½ when they came to Casa Mea in the spring of 2009. Both of them are too precious. Despite their rough beginning in life, they are always smiling and happy, unless of course Robi is denied a second helping at the dinner table!
We at Casa Mea are waiting for more children to arrive to complete our Casa Mea family here in Romania.
